Giant lightning bolt striking next to a wall of rain south of Boulder Colorado towards Golden, heading east to Denver. This is a view Central East Boulder County looking to the southwest towards the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Very active lightning strikes, we were out of the wind and rain north of the storm a great viewing point. This Colorado lightning thunderstorm came in from the northwest over Rocky Mountain National Park and the town of Lyons heading southeast out to Longmont and down to Denver. We were positioned just out of the hard rain and watched it pass us by and stayed dry, my favorite place to be… Tuesday June 24th, 2014 the storms keep rolling in every afternoon. This was a good one because it came in right after sunset. There were a ton of cloud to cloud and inter-cloud burst. Not my real favorite to shoot. This is a view of lightning bursting out of a thunderhead cloud above a country lake in Southwest Weld County, south of Meade and Berthoud Colorado. Back country dirt road in Boulder County, Colorado with the mood of rain in the air and thunderstorm overhead. Lightning bolts, cloud to ground striking the front range foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains in Boulder County. A view of the Twin Peaks, Mount Meeker 13,911′ and Longs Peak 14,256′ in the distance.
